He then questioned, “What was the fourth duā?”

He stated, “I requested that me, my master, the shaykh, and all the attendees be blessed with forgiveness.”

His master spoke, “The three that were in my control, I fulfilled. However, this fourth, that everyone be granted forgiveness, is outside of my control.”

The day passed, and when night came, the master had a dream in which he heard a caller announce, “You did that which was in your control. I am اَرْحَـمُ الرَّاحِمِیْن, and I have forgiven you, your slave, Manṣūr and all those that were present.”[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic brothers, we learn three things from the above account:

1.   If the opportunity arises to have Allah’s elect servants do duā, we should not let it pass by. Allah Almighty does not reject the duās of his chosen slaves.

2.   Whether a person realises or not, he certainly receives the blessings of pious deeds. Sometimes, those blessings become apparent and at other times they do not. Therefore, we should not abandon any good act regardless of how small it may appear. Pious acts have benefits in this world, but we do not always see them. By the mercy of Allah Almighty, their benefit will be there for us to see in the Hereafter.

3.   There are great blessings in giving charity. Calamities are averted, difficulties are removed, and illnesses are cured through it. Therefore, one should spend in the way of Allah Almighty with an
