Hearing this plea of ꜤAllāmah al-Taftāzānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, the beloved Prophet’s mercy overflowed and he صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “Open your mouth.”
When ꜤAllāmah al-Taftāzānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه opened his mouth, the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم placed his blessed saliva in it and supplicated for him. Through the blessings of this, ꜤAllāmah al-Taftāzānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was relieved of his weak memory and went on to become a major scholar.[1]
سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه! Such graciousness!
The point is that we cannot form conclusions about a person’s future. Even if a person appears lazy, unsuccessful and unintelligent today, we do not know what their future holds and how Allah Almighty will bless them, so do not jump to negative conclusions about anyone. Rather, we should have hope in Allah Almighty and think to ourselves that it does not matter if my son, my brother or my student is hopeless today, اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه Allah Almighty will shower His mercy and grant them success out of His grace.
Remain positive in the matter of supplication
Dear Islamic brothers! We must also remain positive when it comes to supplication. Our pious predecessors had a beautiful mindset; they would avoid supplicating against anyone and would supplicate for them instead. Sayyidunā Dhū al-Nūn al-Miṣrī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was an accomplished saint. Once, he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was travelling on a boat with his disciples when they saw another boat approaching from ahead. The people aboard the approaching boat were playing musical instruments and creating a commotion in the river.
The disciples of Sayyidunā Dhū al-Nūn al-Miṣrī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه requested, “Supplicate that Allah Almighty causes their ship to sink, so that creation
