Musbat Soch Ki Barkat

A positive mindset is necessary for success

Dear Islamic brothers! The holy Quran has given us the following guidance in order to be successful in anything:

وَ شَاوِرْھُمْ فِی الْاَمْرِ ۚ فَاِذَا عَزَمْتَ فَتَوَکَّلْ عَلَی اللّٰہِ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ یُحِبُّ الْمُتَوَکِّلِیْنَ (۱۵۹)

and consult with them in matters; then when you have firmly intended an action, place your trust in Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who trust ˹Him˺.[1]

This teaches us that if we wish to be successful in anything we do, we must do the following things: (1) We should seek advice from the experts in that field. (2) Once we have sought advice and decided to do that thing, we should make a firm intention. (3) We should have trust in Allah Almighty.

Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullāh b. Dāwūd رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was asked, “What is tawakkul?”

He رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه replied: اِنَّ التَّوَکُّلَ حُسْنُ الظَّنِّ بِاللہ

“Indeed, tawakkul is to have a good opinion of Allah Almighty.”[2]

Examples of having good and bad opinion

One of the fundamental conditions for success is that when we intend to do a righteous or permissible thing, we should have hope in the mercy of Allah Almighty, keep a good opinion of Him and be positive in our thinking. For example:

*    Fulfil the conditions required for sincere repentance, and then have hope that Allah Almighty will forgive you.

*    Once you have offered prayer, have hope that it will be accepted.
