Hadith that:

This “if only” removes a person’s trust from Allah Almighty and shifts it to himself or to the means (and then once there is no trust in Allah Almighty, Satan traps a person). Remember that this “if only” is mentioned here in relation to worldly actions, but having such a mindset in religious matters and displaying regret about them is a good thing. For example, “If I had spent my life doing good deeds, I would have been pious by now; but unfortunately, I spent my life in sin.” Such regret is an excellent worship.[1]

Dear Islamic brothers! These are the beautiful teachings of Islam! We must leave these thoughts of “if only” and constantly agonising over past events. Adopt a positive attitude! اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه Unpleasant memories of the past will not cause pain, in fact, they can become a means of reward in many cases.

Learn from the past

Dear Islamic brothers! It is common for people to constantly overthink their past, with thoughts like: “I was treated like this, I made a big mistake, I am just misfortunate,” etc. This habit of ours makes our past unpleasant. If we adopted a positive mindset, and instead of overthinking about our past we began to learn from it, our bitter past would become beautiful.

An unpleasant past is not a tragedy but a teacher

Reflect on this inspiring thought. We often consider the painful moments of our life a tragedy but wise people refer to them as a teacher. Meaning, our past is our teacher. There is immense wisdom in Allah Almighty granting us long-term memory. Due to our long-term memories despite wanting to forget many things from our past, we are
