graves, the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “On the Day of Judgement, a group of people will be raised with fire coming out of their mouths.”

It was asked, “O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! Who are these people?”

The beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم answered, “[Those who take the wealth of orphans unjustly.] Have you not heard the statement of Allah Almighty:^[1]

اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ یَاۡکُلُوۡنَ اَمۡوَالَ الۡیَتٰمٰی ظُلۡمًا اِنَّمَا یَاۡکُلُوۡنَ فِیۡ بُطُوۡنِہِمۡ نَارًا ؕ وَ سَیَصۡلَوۡنَ  سَعِیۡرًا )۱۰(

Indeed, those who consume the wealth of orphans in oppression, they only fill their stomachs with fire; and soon they will enter a blazing fire.^[2]

Do not oppressively consume the wealth of orphans

Dear Islamic brothers! There are many scenarios of consuming the wealth of orphans unjustly. For example, if someone passes away leaving behind an orphan, that orphan will also be from his inheritors. The money left behind by the deceased cannot be used to hold gatherings of conveying reward before the money is distributed amongst the inheritors because the orphan is also entitled to a share of it. Therefore, such gatherings must be organised using separate funds.

Depriving orphans of their share of inheritance and taking possession of their wealth unlawfully are injustices that are unfortunately occurring today. May Allah Almighty grant us the ability to fear Him, adopt piety and seek religious guidance in all matters of life. May Allah Almighty also protect us from the malady of consuming the wealth of others unlawfully.

اٰمِیْنْ بِجَاہِ خاتَمِ النَّبِیّٖن صلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہ ِوَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ
