Sayyidunā ꜤAmr b. Qays رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said:

The person will say, “You are very beautiful and fragrant, but I do not recognise you.”
His good deeds will respond, “You were like this in the world and your fragrance [i.e., character and actions] was good. I am your good deeds and I was carried by you [i.e., I prevented you from following your desires and encouraged you to perform good deeds in the world]. Today, you will be carried by me.”

The non-Muslim will answer, “You look dreadful and smell abhorrent. I do not recognise you.”
His deeds will respond, “You reeked like this in the world too. I am your bad deeds and you were carried by me in the world, but today you will carry me.”[1]
