were resting in a cradle, which was also swaying on its own. Yet, Fāṭimah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا was sleeping peacefully near the mill. She continues:
“Seeing this unusual sight, I was astonished—how was the mill grinding by itself? How was the cradle swaying without anyone's help? To resolve this mystery, I went to the Greatest Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and described what I had witnessed.
The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم smiled and said, ‘O Umm Ayman! The heat is intense, it is Ramadan, and Fāṭimah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا is fasting. Allah Almighty caused her to fall asleep so she could rest and not feel the harshness of the heat. Meanwhile, He sent angels to operate the hand mill and sway the cradle.’"[1]
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
Dear listeners! Let us pause and think about this for a moment! Despite the scorching heat of Arabia, Lady Fāṭimah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا still kept her fast with steadfastness. But, what about us? We do not face such extreme heat, and even if we do, we have cooled homes, fans, and air conditioners, yet many among us abandon fasting entirely.
Remember! Whether Ramadan falls in winter or summer, fasting remains obligatory. The difference between the Companions رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُم and us is that they were eager to please Allah Almighty, advance in righteousness, attain Paradise, and acquire heavenly rewards.
Yet, the more time has distanced us from that blessed era, the greater our inclination toward comfort has become.
Even though many people fast in the summer, they secretly wish that Ramadan would come in winter, as the fasts are shorter and comparatively easier. However, the Companions had the opposite
