Should we spend the 12th in Makkah or Madinah?
Question 1: Should the 12th of Rabi’-ul-Awwal be spent in Makkah Mukarramah or Madinah Munawwarah?
Answer: Makkah Mukarramah is a city of many virtues; there is no doubt in this because the birthplace of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is there. (Ibn-e-‘Asakir, vol. 1, p. 187) However, in order to give congratulations, one must go to the home, and the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is resting in Madinah Munawwarah right now. Therefore, if it is possible, the 12th of Rabi’-ul-Awwal should be spent in Madinah Munawwarah. (Madani Muzakarah, 2nd Rabi’-ul-Awwal 1441 AH)
Cleaning up the house in commemoration of Rabi’-ul-Awwal is a means of honour
Question 2: If an Islamic sister cleans the house in commemoration of Rabi’-ul-Awwal, will she be rewarded for it?
Answer: Cleaning up or maintaining cleanliness is a Sunnah, therefore, whenever you clean your house or clothes, make the intention of fulfilling the Sunnah of cleaning. Similarly, when you clean your body whilst bathing, then make this intention whilst performing Ghusl, because rubbing the body whilst having a bath cleans the body. Anyhow, to clean up as required with the intention of honouring the Noble Birth is undoubtedly showing honour for it, and this is a most virtuous and rewardable action. (Madani Muzakarah, 3rd Rabi’-ul-Awwal 1441 AH)
It is better to add the words وَاٰلِهٖ in Salat upon the Prophet
Question 3: When some people mention the name of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, they say: صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and others say صلَّی الله علیه وسلَّم. Which method is more correct?
Answer: Both are correct. The meaning of صلَّی الله علیه وسلَّم is ‘Salutations and peace be upon him’, and the meaning of صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is ‘Salutation and peace be upon him and his family.’ It is clear that adding وَاٰلِهٖ is better. (Madani Muzakarah, 3rd Rabi’-ul-Awwal 1441 AH)
Can a deceased child be buried in the graveyard?
Question 4: A child was born dead and after enquiring, we were informed that they should not be buried in the graveyard but outside of it because they are impure. Is this correct according to Shari’ah?

Question 6: Can we stop and take out money from the ATM whilst on our way to the Jumu’ah Salah?
Answer: When the first Azaan is called, it is Wajib to hasten towards the Salah (i.e. getting ready for Jumu’ah) and it is Wajib to leave trading and all those things which prevent one from hastening towards it. (Durr-e-Mukhtar, vol. 3, p. 42; Bahar-e-Shari’at, vol. 1, p. 775) Therefore, once the Azaan has taken place, money cannot be withdrawn from the ATM whilst on the way to Jumu’ah. What should a person do at times of distress?
Question 9: If a person is distressed and there is no sign of the issue being resolved, what should one do?
Answer: Make Du’a in the court of Allah Almighty. You will find some invocations in the book of Maktaba-tul-Madinah, Madani Treasure of Blessings, in regards to this; recite them. Offer your Salah and make Du’a especially after the Salah, as ‘Du’a is specially accepted after Salah.’ (Fazaail-e-Du’a, p. 120-121; Madani Muzakarah, 4 Rabi’-ul-Awwal 1441 AH)
Du’a is accepted at the birthplace of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم
Question 10: What was your manner when you visited the birthplace of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم?
Answer: I went by foot, and if it was within my capacity, I would have visited on my head. The birthplace of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is a place of etiquette and a place that should be visited; it is an honour to behold it. Du’a is accepted in its vicinity, because the place which the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is proven to have visited is known as مَشْهَد, and Du’a is accepted near the مَشْهَد (i.e. the place of arrival). (Fazaail-e-Du’a, p. 136) The noble birthplace is that place which the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم first arrived to in this world, so it is a place where Du’as are accepted. May Allah Almighty allow us to visit that sacred place time and time again. (Madani Muzakarah, 4th Rabi’-ul-Awwal 1441 AH)
The ruling on throwing food in langar
Question 11: In processions of Milaad, food is placed into bags and thrown from roofs or juice cartons are thrown, and even notes are thrown also. Please give some guidance in this regard.
Answer: Some of the food, fruit and chocolates etc. that are thrown fall on the ground and are trampled over and if the food consists of rice, then it falls all over the place. Thus, this food is wasted and it is Haraam to waste food. Throwing the food like this should be avoided and it should be given in the hands instead. If the notes do not rip and become wasted when thrown like this and fall into someone’s hands, then they can be thrown. (Madani Muzakarah, 5th Rabi’-ul-Awwal 1441 AH)
