that when I perform Wudu or Ghusl during the day or night, I offer Salah, in accordance to what Allah Almighty has ordained for me.”[1]

Commentary of Hadith

Hakeem-ul-Ummat, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan said regarding this Hadith: Sayyiduna Bilal رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ walking in front of the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in Paradise is like how a servant walks in front of a king, to clear his path. The meaning is: O Bilal! What action did you perform that allowed you to serve me like this? Keep in mind that on the Night of Mi’raaj, Sayyiduna Bilal رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ did not travel with the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم to Paradise nor did he experience ascension. Rather, the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم witnessed the events that will occur on the Day of Judgement. The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم will enter Paradise before all of creation, whilst Sayyiduna Bilal رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ will be ahead as a servant.

We learn a few things from this. One being that Allah Almighty gave the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم knowledge of who will enter Paradise and Hell, and what rank they will be of therein; this is from the five types of knowledge. The second point is that the blessed eyes and ears of the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم could hear and see events that were to take place thousands of years later. This event was to take place thousands of years after this, but may we be sacrificed upon those ears which are hearing it today! The third point is that a person will be in the same state there as the state in which he lived his life. Sayyiduna Bilal رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ spent his life serving the Prophet رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ and on the Day of Judgement, he will be raised as his servant too.

Explaining the statement of Sayyiduna Bilal رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ “When I perform Wudu or Ghusl during the day or night, I offer Salah, in accordance to what Allah Almighty has ordained for me”, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه states: Meaning, whenever I perform Wudu or Ghusl in the
