emptied? It is obvious nobody would want this to happen to them; so why do we think like this regarding our Muslim brothers?

The one who deceives is not from us

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ reports that the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم passed by a heap of grain. He put his hand in the heap, and his fingers became moist. He said to the owner of the grain, “What is this?” The man replied, “O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم , rain fell upon it.” The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم responded, “Why did you not place the moist grain at the top of the heap so the people could see it? He who deceives is not from us.”[1]

Dear Islamic brothers, this Hadith teaches us that creating a fault in an item and concealing a naturally occurring defect is a crime. Look at how (the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم ) declared hiding the grain that was soaked by the rain to be deception.[2]

May Allah Almighty grant us the ability to keep in mind the principles of Shariah and to refrain from lying and deception in our businesses.

The Piety of Imam Abu Hanifa رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه

Dear Islamic brothers, deceiving Muslims is an evil habit. Remember! If we take false oaths and sell a defective product without informing the customer, we have violated the rights of the customer. Hence, we must fulfil the rights of the people. If we have violated the rights of people in the past, we must seek forgiveness from them immediately and be cautious in the future.
