Faizan e Imam Azam

Book Name:Faizan e Imam Azam

*   Clean your bed before sleeping to get rid of any harmful insects.

*   Recite the following du’a before sleeping:  اَللّٰھُمَّ بِـاسْمِکَ اَمُوْتُ وَ اَحْیَا Translation: O Allah! I die and live in your name (i.e., sleep and wake up).[1]

*   Do not sleep after Asr as it can reduce the intellect. The beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “The one who sleeps after Asr and finds that his intellect has been reduced only has himself to blame.”[2]

*   Having a siesta at midday is recommended.[3] The erudite Hanafi jurist, Muftī Amjad ꜤAlī AꜤẓamī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states, “This is most likely for those who pray, perform the dhikr of Allah or read Islamic literature during the night. The fatigue of the night is removed by the siesta.”[4]

*   It is disliked to sleep during the first part of the day and during the time between Maghrib and Isha.[5]
