The sheikh’s first Visit to Madinah

Dear Islamic brothers, اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـهِ, from a young age, the renowned spiritual guide and leader of Ahl al-Sunnah, Mawlana Ilyas Attar al-Qadiri دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـهْ was a lover of Madinah and the Prophet  صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم . Despite his yearning, he was unable to go to Madinah for a long time. Eventually, in 1400 AH (1980), he travelled to Madinah for the first time at the age of 30.

اللہُ اَکْبَر! This great lover of Madinah only grew in his yearning, and his eyes continued to brim with tears. How was he feeling during the journey to Madinah? He expresses his thoughts in the following couplets:

مجھ کو درپیش ہے پھر مبارک سفر                                                                                                                          قافلہ پھر مدینے کا تیار ہے

نیکیوں کا نہیں کوئی توشہ فقط

کوئی سجدوں کی سوغات ہے نہ کوئی

چل پڑا ہوں مدینے کی جانِب مگر          میری جھولی میں اشکوں کا اِک ہار ہے

زہد و تقویٰ مرے پاس سرکار ہے

ہائے سر پر گناہوں کا انبار ہے

Mujh ko darpaysh hai phir mubārak safar,

qāfilah phir Madine kā tayyār hai

Naykiyoṇ ka nahīn koi tawsha faqaṭ,

Merī jholī mein ashkon kā ik hār he

Koi sajdoṇ ki sawghāt hai na koi,

Zuhd o taqwa mere pās Sarkār he

Chal parā hūṇ Madine kī jānib magar,

Haye sar par gunāhoṇ ka aṇbār hai
