Affinity with Madinah

Mawlana Ilyas Attar al-Qadiri دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـهْ wrote a booklet called “Pani Kay Baray Main Aham Malumaat”. One section of the book details five scenarios in which water becomes mustaꜤmal (e.g. water that has been used for wudu). The honourable sheikh gave a heading to this section that drew a link between the five scenarios and the letters of the word ‘Madinah’ (مدینہ).

سُبْحٰنَ اللہ! Dear Islamic brothers, how beautiful is this act? The topic was used water, which bears no direct relevance to Madinah, but this lover of Madinah somehow made a connection to the beloved city. The heading was written, there was mention of Madinah, and the blessings of this were received. This method of the honourable sheikh whereby he draws a connection to something, or someone, is found throughout his writings.

Some places will highlight a link to Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī, Khawājah MuꜤīn al-Dīn, Imam Aḥmad Razā Khān, the noble Companions, the Ahl al-Bayt, Madinah, Baqī cemetery and the golden grille at the shrine of the Prophet  صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم . For example, when writing about Madanī pearls regarding entering and leaving the home, he formed a heading related to Madinah and mentioned 12 points in light of that heading. In another instance, he wrote five Madanī pearls (regarding conveying reward to the deceased) with due regard to the letters of the word “Madinah”. Examples like this can be found throughout his literature, whereby he reaps blessings by making such links and mentioning Madinah abundantly.
