made inferior and their success will cease, causing them to fall into the pits of failure.

History of Fallen Nations

History informs us that when a nation is ungrateful for the blessings it receives, like success, honour and security, the outcome of the nation becomes a source of admonition for us.

The nation of ꜤĀd were given an abundance of strength and wealth but when they became disobedient and unappreciative, Allah punished them with a hurricane. Thus, they became an sign of admonishment for others.[1]

The nation of Thamūd were skilled architects who were granted power, prosperity and honour but they became rebellious and ungrateful. They were consequently destroyed by severe earthquakes.[2]

A nation will not be deprived of the blessings of Allah unless they change their condition. If they become evil, ungrateful and disobedient, the wrath of Allah will descend upon them and they will be given no respite. What happens to them will then become a lesson for us all.

The esteemed Quranic commentator, Muftī Aḥmad Yār Khān NaꜤīmī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه writes:
