Book Name:Zawal Ke Asbab
The scholar Muftī ꜤAbd al-Muṣṭafā AꜤẓamī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه explains this verse:
The first purpose of a Muslim’s life is to be خَیْرُ الْاُمَمْ - the best of nations. It is necessary for a flower to have fragrance, a pearl to be luminous and the sun to emit light. Similarly, it is necessary for Muslims to ensure their actions are greater than those of the previous nations.
Whether our actions are related to worship, business, character or actions, we must always abide by the teachings of the Quran and sunnah. One must remain steadfast upon the Quran and sunnah and walk upon the right path.[1]
Dear Islamic brothers! Our pious elders adopted the sunnah of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and lived by the principles taught in the Quran. Due to this, Allah granted them success and honour. The disbelievers would be impressed by their character and accept Islam as a result.
The saint Mālik bin Dīnār رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه once rented a house, and a non-Muslim lived in the building next to him. The non-Muslim had hatred towards him and would cast dirty water and impurities into his home via a gutter pipe. Mālik bin Dīnār would clean the impurity and remain silent.
This continued to happen until the non-Muslim asked, “Do you not have any complaints about the filth I cast into your home?” The saint replied politely and gently, “I wash away any impurity that falls into my home.”
