The woman replied, “Yes, but who has informed you of this?” The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم replied, اَخْبَرَتْنِیْ ھٰذِہٖ فِیْ یَدِیْ - “This ˹leg of the sheep˺ in my hand informed me.”[1]

اللہُ اَکْبَر Let’s think now. The sheep was not alive and had even been cooked. What kind of sound could it have made? How could it speak? The sheep was slaughtered and roasted, so how could it have made a sound? This is the astonishing excellence of the Prophet’s hearing - صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. He heard and understood something that makes no sound and speaks no language!

Hearing the alawāt of the ummah

O those who love Allah’s Messenger! Let’s discuss another aspect of this beautiful topic. The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم can hear things thousands of miles away, and he can hear things that have yet to occur. But can he hear the ṣalawāt recited upon him by millions and millions of Muslims? Yes, of course! All whilst being in his sacred shrine in Madinah, he hears the ṣalawāt recited upon him from across the world.

The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم explained, “Whoever of my nation sends ṣalawāt upon me, their voice reaches me no matter where they are.”[2]

سُبْحٰنَ اللہ Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of people from the North, South, East, West, America, Africa, Japan, Europe, Australia, and other countries around the world send ṣalawāt upon the Prophet. Every second, countless ṣalawāt is recited upon him, throughout days and nights. Allah granted His beloved such amazing power of hearing, that
