The blessings of Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī’s رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه supplication
Shaykh Ṣāliḥ IsmāꜤīl b. ꜤAlī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه states:
When Shaykh ꜤAlī b. Hītī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه would fall ill, he would sometimes come to my land and spend many days there. Once, he fell ill there, so Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه came from Baghdad to visit him and both of them met on my land. It contained two date-palm trees, which had been dried out for four years and did not bear fruit. We intended to cut them down, but Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه stood and performed ablution beneath one of them and offered two units of voluntary prayer under the other.
The trees became green and sprouted leaves. In the same week they began to bear fruit, even though it was not the season for dates. I took some of the dates from my land and presented them to Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, which he ate and said to me, “May Allah Almighty place blessings in your land, your dirham, your ṣāꜤ (a volumetric measure), and your milk.”
From that year, my land began to produce two to four times the amount of harvest, and my state currently is that when I spend one dirham, I receive two or three in return. When I place 100 sacks of wheat in a house and use 50 of them, and then look at what remains, I find that 100 still remain. My livestock give birth to so many offspring that I lose count of them, and through the
