whether he was aware of the commentary, and he replied in the positive each time.

When Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه gave an 11th exegesis of this verse, I again asked ꜤAllāmah Ibn al-Jawzī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, and he gave the same response. Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه proceeded to give a 12th explanation of the verse, so I asked ꜤAllāmah Ibn al-Jawzī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه whether he was aware of it. This time, he shook his head in the negative and said, “No, this commentary is not in my knowledge.”

Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه continued to give further exegeses of the verse until he had mentioned 30 different commentaries. After the 11th interpretation, the response of ꜤAllāmah Ibn al-Jawzī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was the same, “I am not aware of this commentary. This explanation is not within my knowledge.”

After giving 30 commentaries, Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه continued until he had given 40 explanations of the verse in that one gathering, as well as mentioning each exegete’s name. After the 11th commentary, ꜤAllāmah ibn al-Jawzī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه continued to give the same reply that he was unaware of the explanation mentioned.[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic brothers! Generally speaking, when a person intends to deliver a speech, he prepares for it beforehand, reads many books and has an arrangement and outline of the speech in his head. In fact, a person sometimes writes down the entire speech or important points to make it easier when delivering it. For example, I am delivering this speech to you and the entire speech is in front of me, fully arranged.
