whoever’s concerns remain engaged in worldly affairs, Allah does not care which valley he dies in.”[1]
O devotees of the beloved Prophet! If only we possessed worry for the Hereafter. If we acquire this, we will have passion for and steadfastness upon performing good deeds.
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
Imam JaꜤfar al-Ṣādiq’s Advice
Sayyidunā Sufyān al-Thawrī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said to Imam JaꜤfar al-Ṣādiq رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, “I will not rise until you give me advice.” He رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه replied, “O Sufyān! I talk to you, but talking excessively is detrimental for you. Remember three things and act upon them:
1. If you wish to keep a blessing Allah has granted you, thank Him abundantly because He states:
لَئِنْ شَکَرْتُمْ لَاَزِیْدَنَّکُمْ
“If you thank Me, then I shall most definitely grant you more,[2]
2. If you feel there is a delay in your sustenance, repent [e.g. say اَسْتَغْفِرُ اللہ! اَسْتَغْفِرُ اللہ as much as you can] because Allah states:
اِسْتَغْفِرُوْا رَبَّکُمْ ؕ اِنَّہٗ کَانَ غَفَّارًا (ۙ۱۰) یُّرْسِلِ السَّمَآءَ عَلَیْکُمْ مِّدْرَارًا (ۙ۱۱) وَّ یُمْدِدْکُمْ بِاَمْوَالٍ وَّ بَنِیْنَ وَ یَجْعَلْ لَّکُمْ جَنّٰتٍ وَّ یَجْعَلْ لَّکُمْ اَنْہٰرًا (۱۲)
