Virtue of sending Ṣalāt upon the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم

عَنْ جَعْفَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: مَنْ صَلَّى عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللہُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم وَعَلٰى اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ مِئَةَ مَرَّةٍ قَضَى اللهُ لَهُ مِئَةَ حَاجَةٍ

Sayyidunā Imam JaꜤfar al-Ṣādiq رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said, “Whoever sends ṣalāt upon the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and his Prophetic Household 100 times, Allah fulfils 100 of his needs.”^[1]

The method of sending ṣalāt upon the Ahl al-Bayt (e.g., his blessed wives and all his noble children) is to send ṣalāt upon the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم before sending it upon the Ahl al-Bayt. For example, recite this ṣalāt: اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ عَلٰی آلِہٖ وَ سَلِّم

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Intentions for listening to the sermon

The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said:

اَفْضَلُ الْعَمَلِ اَلنِّيَّۃُ الصَّادِقَۃُ

"The best of deeds is a sincere intention."^[2]

O devotees of the Prophet! Make it a habit to form good intentions before every action, as good intentions can lead one to Paradise. Before listening to the sermon, make the following good intentions:

*    I will listen to the entire sermon to gain knowledge.

*    I will sit respectfully.

*    I will avoid laziness during the sermon.
