صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
Imam JaꜤfar al-Ṣādiq رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was delivering a speech and many people were present to attain blessings. He explained the incident of Prophet Ibrāhīm عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم when he requested in the court of Allah, “O Allah! Show me how you will give life to the dead.” Allah Almighty accepted his request and said:
فَخُذْ اَرْبَعَۃً مِّنَ الطَّیْرِ فَصُرْھُنَّ اِلَیْکَ ثُمَّ اجْعَلْ عَلٰی کُلِّ جَبَلٍ مِّنْہُنَّ جُزْءًا ثُمَّ ادْعُہُنَّ یَاْتِیْنَکَ سَعْیًا ؕ
“Take any four birds, then let them become accustomed to you, then (after slaughter,) place a piece from each of them on the mountains, then call them, they will come to you with haste.[1]
After narrating the incident, Imam JaꜤfar al-Ṣādiq رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said, “I can resurrect birds too if you wish to see.” The people replied, “Yes, please show us.” So, Imam JaꜤfar al-Ṣādiq رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه slaughtered a peacock, crow, hawk and a dove, ordered for them to be made into minced meat, and for their heads to be preserved. After their meat was mixed, he called out to every bird in turn, “O peacock! O crow! O hawk! O dove!” Then the meat of each bird flew and connected with its head, and through the saintly marvel of Imam JaꜤfar al-Ṣādiq رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, the birds were brought back to life immediately.[2]
