local masjid is sufficient for him, but calling the azan at home is recommended (mustaḥabb).[1]

*    Azan should be called after the time for prayer has started. If it is delivered before the time or started before and completed after the time begins, it should be repeated.[2]

*    Women should not call azan or iqāmah, whether praying regular or missed prayers. It is disliked (makrūh) for them to do so.[3]

*    A discerning child can call the azan.[4]

*    To call the azan without ablution is valid, but it is disliked (makrūh).[5]

*    Placing fingers in the ears while calling the azan is a Sunnah practice which is recommended, but moving or rotating them is unnecessary.[6]

*    In the Fajr azan, it is recommended (mustaḥabb) to say   " اَلصَّلٰوۃُ خَیْرٌ مِّنَ النَّوْم " after " حَیَّ عَلَی الْفَلَاح  ".[7] However, if it is not said, the azan is still valid.[8]
