fasting is observed, and through the blessings of fasting, we are granted piety.

Piety is the root of all goodness

Piety is a great blessing and a valuable treasure.

Sayyidunā Abū SaꜤīd al-Khudrī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ narrates that the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم advised a Companion by saying:

عَلَیْکَ بِتَقْوَی اللّٰہِ فَاِنَّہُ جِمَاعُ کُلِّ خَیْرٍ  

"Piety is obligatory upon you, for indeed, it is the combination of all goodness."[1]

The Proof of Islam, Imām Muḥammad al-Ghazālī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه states:

O dear one! You must understand that piety is a rare and precious treasure. If you succeed in attaining this treasure, then you have indeed achieved a great success. Consider it as if all the goodness of this world and the Hereafter has been gathered in piety.[2]

Look at how great this virtue is—all the goodness of this world and the Hereafter has been placed in piety, and fasting is the act of worship through which piety is attained. In other words, fasting is such an elevated form of worship that it makes a person capable of acquiring all the goodness and blessings of this world and the Hereafter.
