Remaining etiquettes of visiting mausoleums
* (If a person wishes to visit the mausoleum of a Wali of Allah Almighty, or) the grave of a Muslim, it is Mustahab for him to offer two Rak’at of Nafl Salah at home (at a non-Makruh time), after Surah al-Fatihah, recite Ayat-ul-Kursi once and Surah Ikhlas thrice in each Rak’ah, and then convey the reward of that Salah to the person in the grave; Allah Almighty will create a light in the deceased person’s grave and will grant him (the one conveying the reward) a great reward. (Fatawa ‘Aalamgeeri, vol. 5, p. 350)
* After making good intentions, set off for the mausoleum, and when visiting the mausoleums of the Awliya, one should enter from the side of the feet, and stand in front of the face from at least 4 handspans away, and present Salam like this, in a medium tone: ‘اَلسّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَاسَیِّدِیْ وَرَحمَۃُ اللّٰہِ وَبَرَکَاتُہٗ’, then recite Durood Ghausiyyah 3 times, Surah al-Fatihah once, Ayat-ul-Kursi once, Surah Ikhlas 7 times, and then Durood Ghausiyyah 7 times. If time permits, recite Surah Yaseen and Surah Mulk too, and make Du’a to Allah Almighty: O Allah! Grant me reward for this recitation in accordance to your grace, not in accordance to my action, and present it as a gift from me to this accepted person. Then make Du’a for your permissible and Shar’i wish, and present the soul of the one in the mausoleum
