What can be said of the great excellence and status of Islamic knowledge? In order to find out more, let’s listen to a blessed Hadith of the final Prophet of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.
Sayyiduna Abu Zar Ghifari رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه says that the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم once addressed him and said, “O Abu Zar! To begin your morning in such a state that you have learnt a verse from the book of Allah is better for you than one hundred units of voluntary prayer; and for you to begin your morning in such a state that you have learnt a chapter of knowledge, whether it is acted upon or not, is better for you than one thousand units of voluntary prayer.”[1]
