Barkaat e Zakat

Book Name:Barkaat e Zakat

wealth; his wealth will be destroyed, as Zakat is only for the needy.’ Both of these meanings are correct.” [1]

Collective damage

There is collective damage for all members of a nation if they do not give Zakat. Let’s once again listen to some blessed Hadith of the final Prophet of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم regarding this:

1.   ‘Whichever nation does not give Zakat, Allah inflicts them with drought.’ [2]

2.   ‘When people stop giving Zakat, then Allah stops rainfall from occurring. If four legged creatures were not on the Earth, not even a single drop of rain would fall from the sky.’ [3]

Wealth becomes a calamity

If a person does not give Zakat, his wealth will become a means of severe problem and difficulty for him on the Day of Judgement. The final Prophet of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم warns us about this, as he says, “Whosoever was given wealth by Allah, but did not give its Zakat; on the Day of Judgement, his wealth will be turned into a bald snake with two black marks on its head. That snake will be placed as a shackle around his neck, seize the corners of his lips and say: ‘I am your wealth, I am your treasure.’” [4]

Severity of accountability

The person who does not give Zakat will have their accountability
