The renowned commentator of the Holy Quran, Hakeem-ul-Ummat, Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه writes, “The one who pays Zakat will find his Zakat increasing each year, and this has been experienced. A farmer may plant seeds in his field, and although it apparently seems he returns with empty sacks of grains, but in fact, he has actually filled them with future benefit. The grains stockpiled at his home may deteriorate due to mice chewing into it or other animals causing it damage. In summary, whichever wealth you give charity from, اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه, it will continue to increase. Water can be taken over and over again from a well, and the well will continue to remain full of water.” [1]

12. Protection from the evil of wealth

The twelfth benefit of Zakat: Whoever pays Zakat becomes safeguarded from the evils associated with wealth. The beloved and blessed Messenger صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated, “Whoever has paid the Zakat of his wealth, indeed the evil effect of it has been removed from him.” [2]

13. Cause of protection of wealth

The thirteenth benefit of Zakat: It protects a person’s money and wealth. The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated, “Give Zakat from your wealth, and store it in a strengthened fortress (meaning, no harm or loss will come to one’s wealth), and treat your ill ones through charity.” [3]

14. Fulfillment of needs

The fourteenth benefit of Zakat: Allah Almighty will fulfil the needs of those who pay Zakat. Let’s now listen to two blessed sayings of the
