وَ اَطِیۡعُوا اللّٰہَ وَ رَسُوۡلَہٗۤ  اِنۡ   کُنۡتُمۡ  مُّؤۡمِنِیۡنَ (۱)

And obey Allah and the Messenger, if you believe.[1]

2. Honour and reverence

Devotion to the noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم requires that we should show utmost respect and reverence towards the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Allah has given the command to honour and revere His beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in the Holy Quran. Hence, He declares in Part 26, in the 9th verse of Surah al-Fatḥ:

وَ تُعَزِّرُوۡہُ وَ تُوَقِّرُوۡہُ ؕ

And honour and revere the Messenger (i.e. the Beloved Prophet Muhammad)[2]

3. Frequent remembrance

The one who claims to love remembers the beloved often, as in true devotion, such frequent remembrance is the essence of love. The centre of our devotion and love is the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, so we should remember him often, praise him, deliver and listen to the lectures discussing his grandeur and glory, and frequently send durūd upon him. اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه We will attain many blessings through this.

4. Friendship and enmity

Just as true devotees love everything related to their beloved, one of the prerequisites of devotion is to have veneration in their hearts for his friends and family. Likewise, they should hold enmity towards the enemies of the beloved and not having a relationship with them is also a prerequisite of devotion. Therefore, we should also love the blessed
