Imām Mālik’s respect for al-Masjid al-Nabawi
Khalifah Abu Jaʿfar Manṣūr debated Imām Mālik رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه in al-Masjid al-Nabawi, but during the debate, the voice of Abu Jaʿfar became slightly raised, so Imām Mālik رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه said to him:
O leader of the faithful! Do not raise your voice in this Masjid, for Allah Almighty taught manners to a group when He said:
O believers! Do not raise your voices higher than the voice of this Conveyor of the unseen (i.e. the Beloved Prophet Muhammad)[1]
In praising another group, He said:
Indeed, those who lower their voices in the august court of Allah's (Beloved) Messenger[2]
And in condemning another group, He said:
