to rectify ourselves and yet we ignore the call to righteousness for others. Sometimes, whilst travelling, songs, films and dramas are played in the car, and this is an excellent opportunity to give the call to righteousness. Through the use of wisdom and good character, we can make individual effort on the driver, and save him and others who listen to songs from committing sin.

At times, whilst waiting for a car, the same scene can be found in the waiting room; the relevant people can be invited towards righteousness in this case too. There are many examples where we have the opportunity to call people to righteousness and yet we often fail to take the initiative. There is great reward in calling towards righteousness, and for this reason, Satan whispers to us in an attempt to deprive us of virtue. Reminding the believers is beneficial, just as the Almighty states in Part 27, in the 55th verse of Surah al-Dhāriyāt:

وَّ  ذَکِّرۡ فَاِنَّ  الذِّکۡرٰی تَنۡفَعُ الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ  (۵۵)

And give advice (i.e. remind), that giving advice benefits the Muslims.[1]

Similarly, there are many narrations which encourage calling towards good and condemning evil. Hence, the noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “Whenever anyone from among you sees evil, he should change it with his hand, and the one who is unable to change it with his hand, he should change it with his tongue, and the one who is unable to change it with his tongue, he should consider it bad in his heart, and this is the weakest of faith.”[2]

Do we even consider it evil in our hearts?

O devotees of the Prophet! We should ask ourselves the following question: in the event of witnessing somebody commit a sin and being
