and good deeds. May Allah grant us the ability to spend every night, especially the 10th of Muḥarram, in performing good deeds.

A Pious neighbour is a blessing

Dear Islamic brothers! There is an important part of this story we should all pay attention to, and that is the blessings someone can attain by having a pious neighbour. Without doubt, the neighbour was a pious devotee of the Messenger, as he would perform good deeds and arrange gatherings of dhikr. This is how the physically impaired girl came to know of ʿĀshūrā and its blessings, which led to her making duʿā and being relieved of her difficulties.

A pious neighbour is nothing short of a huge bounty. Our beloved master, the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “A spacious house, a pious neighbour and a good ride are blessings for a Muslim.”[1]

Consider your neighbour when purchasing a home

The final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: اِلْتَمِسُوا الْجَارَ قَبْلَ الدَّارِ - Search for a neighbour before purchasing a home.”[2]

سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه! What amazing advice! When people intend to purchase a house or piece of land, location is the central point of discussion. What are the streets like? What is the sewage system like? Is there gas supply? Is there water? Is there electricity? These are indeed important factors, and you should purchase a house that is suitable for you, but you should also look to see what your potential neighbours are like. Is the area home to pious people, especially those who love the Prophet
