such a short period of time. It was for this reason that those whose hearts were void of the light of faith not only rejected this great event, but they made a mockery of it in different ways. However, those whose hearts were lit with certainty did not fall prey to any concern or doubt, and without any proof, they accepted this miracle, as mentioned regarding the first Caliph of Islam Sayyidunā Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ.

The Companion who attested to the Mirāj

The mother of the believers Sayyidatunā ꜤĀˈisha al-Ṣiddīqah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا states:

When the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم   was taken on a journey from al-Masjid al-Ḥarām to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, he informed the people about this entire incident the next day.

(Some) Non-Muslims ran to Sayyidunā Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ and said, “Can you testify to what your friend has said about him travelling from al-Masjid al-Ḥarām to al-Masjid al-Aqsa in one night?”

He رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ asked, “Did the Prophetصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم   truly say this?”

“Yes,” they replied.

So, Sayyidunā Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ exclaimed, “لَئِنْ کَانَ قَالَ ذٰلِکَ لَقَدْ صَدَقَ (If heصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم   said this, then he has certainly spoken the truth), and I testify to these words of his without any hesitation.”

They responded, “Do you also testify to the astonishing matter that he went to Bayt al-Maqdis at night and returned before dawn?”
