*               As per the circumstances, two or three strong and pious individuals should lower the deceased into the grave. If the deceased is a woman, her close family should lower her in. If she has none, her distant relatives should do it, and if she has no family, a group of righteous people can lower her in.[1]

*               The deceased woman must be covered from the moment she is lowered into the grave until the planks are placed.

*               Recite the following duāˈ when lowering the deceased into the grave: بِسْمِ اللہِ وَبِاللہِ وَعَلٰی مِلَّۃِ  رَسُوْلِ اللہ. [2]

*               The deceased should be made to lie on his right side with his face towards the qibla. The shroud can be untied as there is no need for it now, but there is no harm if it is not.[3]

*               The one who unties the knot of the shroud should recite the following dua: اَللّٰہُمَّ لَا تَحْرِمْنَا اَجْرَہٗ وَلَا تَفْتِنَّا بَعْدَہٗ. Translation: “O Allah! Do not deprive us of this reward, and do not place us in tribulation after this.”[4]

*               The grave should be sealed with unfired bricks, and if the earth is soft, it is permissible to use wooden planks.[5]
