*    I will not be lazy or inattentive during the speech.

*    I will listen to the speech to reform and better myself.

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                                             صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

The greatest piece of advice

Ḥasan al-Baṣrī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was a famous imam, saint, and scholar of his time. He once took part in a funeral procession. After the deceased was buried, the imam turned to an individual there and asked, “Do you think anybody wants to come back to this world, perform good deeds, and repent from their sins more than this deceased person?”

The individual replied, “He must certainly have this wish.”

“Then, what is wrong with us?” Imam Ḥasan al-Baṣrī lamented, “Why are we not like the dead?” (As in, why do we not perform good deeds? Why do we not repent?)

After this, the imam began to walk away, saying, “If the heart is alive, what greater advice is there than these funerals!”[1]

Three go and two return

Dear Islamic brothers! Reality is, only our good deeds will benefit us after our deaths. Our cars, homes, bank balances, our efforts to become rich, our qualifications, our awards; these all belong to this world and will stay behind after we go.
