though you are a stranger or traveller, and consider yourself from the dead.’”[1]
Leave worldly concerns and focus on the Hereafter!
Abū Hurayra رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ narrates the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم recited this verse of Sūrah al-Shūrā:
مَنْ کَانَ یُرِیْدُ حَرْثَ الْاٰخِرَۃِ نَزِدْ لَہٗ فِیْ حَرْثِہٖ ۚ وَ مَنْ کَانَ یُرِیْدُ حَرْثَ الدُّنْیَا نُؤْتِہٖ مِنْہَا وَ مَا لَہٗ فِی الْاٰخِرَۃِ مِنْ نَّصِیْبٍ (۲۰)
Whosoever seeks the harvest of the Hereafter, We increase his harvest for him, and whosoever seeks the harvest of this world, We grant him a part of it, but he has no share in the Hereafter.[2]
The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم then explained how Allah announced, “O son of Adam! Free yourselves for worship and your hearts shall be filled with wealth. If you do not do as such, your hearts shall be made brimful with preoccupations.”[3]
Worries for the world can lead to ruin
ꜤAbdullāh b. MasꜤūd رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ reports that the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم proclaimed:
Whoever focuses all his concerns on one thing, the Hereafter, Allah shall relieve him of his worldly concerns. Yet, whoever has a host of concerns in a number of worldly issues, then Allah does not care for which of its valleys he died in.[4]
