Using tamāˈim (polytheistic amulets) in any form is categorically incorrect. Contrastingly, using amulets containing Quranic verses and other holy things is not only permissible, but also mustaḥabb (recommended) and full of blessings.^[1]

Quranic chapters and their effects

O those who love Allah’s Messenger! Whatever chapter of the Quran one reads, one will earn blessings.  Islamic scholars, based on hadith and their own experiences, have mentioned the unique effects of various chapters and verses. Let us listen to some of them:

*     Surah al-Fātiḥah – Reciting it 100 times before making dua ensures its acceptance.

*     Surah al-Baqarah – Reciting this drives away Satan from the home.

*     Āyat al-Kursī – Reciting this removes financial hardships.

*     Surah al-Kahf – Regular recitation protects one from the trials of Dajjal.

*     Surah Yāsīn – Reciting this at the graves of one’s parents every Friday leads to the forgiveness of (the reciter’s) sins, equal to the number of letters in this chapter.

*     Surah al-Dukhān – Reciting this removes difficulties.

*     Surah al-Jāthiyah – Reciting this upon a dying person ensures they die with faith.

*     Surah al-Ḥujurāt – Reciting this, then blowing into water and drinking it, brings blessings into one’s home.
