me.’” The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم replied: "Leave him! He has gained understanding of the religion.”[1]
2-3. The Quran is a Book of mercy and guidance
سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه What splendid brilliance the Quran has.
In Surah Luqmān, another quality of the Quran is mentioned, which will be the second of our discussion. The Quran is a Book of mercy.
Books of fiction, which sometimes contain sinful topics, do not earn a person any reward nor cause mercy to descend if they are read. Yet, when it comes to the Quran, every letter a person reads earns them ten good deeds, and by reading it, mercy begins to descend in great abundance.
The third quality of the Quran we will discuss today, is the fact it is a Book of guidance.
When we look at our surroundings, we can see that those lost in fictional stories develop negative mental side effects. They start living in an imaginary world and fail to play a positive role in society. Their attitude becomes irritable and frustrated.
On the other hand, a person who regularly recites the Quran—even without understanding it—experiences a soft and pure heart, a strong inclination towards goodness, a positive transformation in their character and manners, inner and outer purity, a role as a valuable and righteous member of society.
If one not only recites but also understands the Quran, then they are indeed truly fortunate.
