صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
Jubayr b. MuṭꜤim رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ was one of the Prophet’s Companions. He accepted Islam before the Conquest of Mecca and lived in Medina, where he later passed away.[1]
Explaining his journey to Islam, he recalls:
During the Battle of Badr, some non-Muslims were taken as prisoners. I travelled to Medina (on behalf of the people of Mecca) to negotiate their release. When I arrived, it was time for maghrib salah.
The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was leading salah, and his blessed voice could be heard outside the masjid. He recited Sūrat al-Ṭūr. I began listening to recitation of the Quran.
At this point, the Prophet’s sublime voice and the words of Allah began profoundly impacting the heart of Jubayr b. MuṭꜤim.
He continues by saying:
At that moment, the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم recited the following verses:
اِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّکَ لَوَاقِعٌ ۙ(۷) مَّا لَہٗ مِنۡ دَافِعٍ ۙ(۸)
The punishment of your Lord will certainly come to pass. None can avert it.[2]
