Faizan e Rabi Ul Akhir

Book Name:Faizan e Rabi Ul Akhir

If only! We begin to offer the Tahajjud prayer as well in order to attain the blessings of this month. Let’s listen to two sayings of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in relation to the Tahajjud Salah:

۔1He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: ‘The greatest Salah after the Fard Salah is the Salah that is offered in the night.’ (Muslim, vol. 1, p. 591, Hadees 1163)

۔2He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: ‘Indeed, there are some palaces in Paradise from which the inside and the outside are visible. Allah Almighty has prepared those palaces for those who feed needy people, spread Salam, and offer Salah when people are asleep in the night.’ (Ibn-e-Hibbaan, vol. 1, p. 363, Hadees 509)

Dear Islamic brothers, remember that to offer Nafl Salah in order to seek the pleasure of Allah Almighty is an extremely honourable privilege. In order to attain the closeness to Allah Almighty, it is preferable to offer Nafl Salah alongside Faraid and Wajibaat every day and every month. Our Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم encouraged the offering of Nafl Salah as well and also gave glad tidings regarding the reward on offer (for Nafl Salah).

Complete the Fard with the Nafl

The final Prophet of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated: ‘The first thing that a person will be questioned about on the Day of Judgement will be his Salah; if that is complete, then it will be recorded as complete. If it is incomplete, then Allah Almighty will say to the angels: ‘Does my servant have any Nafl Salah?’ If he does have Nafl Salah, then Allah Almighty will say: ‘Complete his Faraid with the Nafl prayers’. Then the accountability of Zakah and other deeds will also be taken in this manner. (Abu Dawood, vol. 1, p. 329, Hadees 864-866)

In the commentary of this part of the Hadees ‘complete the Fard with the Nafl’, Hakeem-ul-Ummat, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Na’eemi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه writes: ‘Here, shortage does not mean shortage in offering, rather, it means shortcoming in the way of offering it; i.e. if one would have offered his Faraid in an incomplete way, then that shortcoming will be fulfilled through the Nafl prayers. It does not mean that one can continue missing his Fard Salah and
