Book Name:Farooq e Azam Ke Ala Ausaf

*    Do not sleep after Asr, as this poses the risk of losing one’s intellect. The Greatest and Final Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “The one who sleeps after Asr and loses his intellect, should only blame himself.”[1]

*    Having a siesta at midday is mustaḥab (recommended).[2] The erudite Hanafi jurist, Muftī Amjad ꜤAlī al-AꜤẓamī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه states, “This is most likely for those who remain awake at night by spending it in salah, in the remembrance of Allah Almighty or reading books. This is so that the tiredness one feels due to staying awake can be removed through the siesta.”[3]

*    It is makrūh (disliked) to sleep during the first part of the day or between Maghrib and Ishāˈ.[4]

*    It is mustahabb to sleep in a state of purity. Sleep on your right side for some time with your right hand under your right cheek whilst facing the qibla, then turn to the left side.[5]

*    Remember the grave at the time of sleeping. You will be alone there, and nothing will accompany you, except your deeds.
