(4) Forbidding people from evil out of fear of Allah Almighty.[1]

Dear Islamic brothers, we have learnt that one of the praiseworthy traits of Sayyidunā ꜤUmar رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ was that he would not tolerate even the slightest carelessness in religious matters. He رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ was firm in acting upon Islam’s rulings, avoiding those things prohibited by Allah Almighty, calling to righteousness, and forbidding evil.

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

(3) His humility

Dear Islamic brothers, from the many qualities Sayyidunā ꜤUmar رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ had, humility was one of them. If someone made him aware of something good, he would be pleased at this and accept their words. He رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ himself stated:

اَحَبُّ النَّاسِ اِلَيَّ مَنْ رَّفَعَ اِلَيَّ عُيُوْبِيْ

“The most beloved of people to me is the one who makes me aware of my shortcomings.”[2]

The woman spoke the truth

Once, a woman disagreed with him in a large gathering and gave her opposing view. With great patience, he رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ listened carefully to what she had to say. Then, he رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ accepted her viewpoint and announced:

اِمْرَاَةٌ اَصَابَتْ وَ رَجُلٌ اَخْطَاَ

“The woman is correct, and the man was mistaken.”[3]
