Meaning that our beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is the first Prophet and the final Prophet.
Allah Almighty states in the noble Quran:
ہُوَ الْاَوَّلُ وَ الْاٰخِرُ وَ الظَّاھِرُ وَ الْبَاطِنُ ۚ وَ ھُوَ بِکُلِّ شَیْءٍ عَلِیْمٌ (۳)
He is the First, the Last, The Apparent and the Hidden, and He knows everything.[1]
Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Ḥaqq Muḥaddith Dihlawī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه explains this verse as follows: These four attributes (being the First, the Last, the Apparent and the Hidden) are those of Allah Almighty, and He bestowed these attributes upon His Beloved صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم too.[2]
The meaning of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم being first and last
It is stated in a Hadith:
The leader of the angels, Angel Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم once came to the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and presented his salām in this manner: السَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَاظاہِرُ! اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَابَاطِنُ – “Peace be upon you, O apparent! Peace be upon you, O hidden!”
The beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم remarked, “These are the attributes of Allah Almighty, which befit Him. How can they be my attributes?”
Angel Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم replied:
Allah Almighty has granted you virtue from these attributes, He granted you superiority over all the Prophets and Messengers, and He
