Remaining sunan and etiquettes of shaking hands

*    Shaking hands with one another removes animosity.

*    You can shake hands no matter how many times you meet.

*    It is not sunnah to shake hands in a way where both people use only one hand, rather it is sunnah to use both hands.

*    Some people only make their fingers touch; this is also not sunnah.

*    It is disliked to kiss one’s own hand after shaking hands.[1]

*    Islamic brothers who kiss their own palm after shaking hands should get rid of this habit.

*    If one feels desire when shaking hands with an amrad (handsome young boy), it will not be permissible to shake hands with him. In fact, if merely looking at him causes a person to feel desire, it will be a sin to look.[2]

*    When shaking hands, it is sunnah for there not be a barrier, such as a handkerchief, in the hand. Both palms should be empty and should touch directly.[3]
