Dear Islamic brothers! Allah Almighty granted Mūsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم many miracles, a host of which involved the blessed staff he would carry. Let’s listen to three events related to this.

1. The staff becoming a giant snake

Firʿawn once arranged a huge festival in an attempt to defeat Mūsā      عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم. Amongst the thousands gathered, a group of magicians brought their belongings with them. The magicians, swearing by the honour of Firʿawn, threw down their ropes and staffs, which turned into serpents and began slithering across the ground. The entire crowd was struck with fear and people began to panic.

Firʿawn and his magicians, proud of their display, began clapping and celebrating their apparent success. Yet, at that very moment, Mūsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم then cast down his own staff, following the command of Allah Almighty. It turned into a gigantic and terrifying serpent, which devoured the magicians’ snakes.

Witnessing this miraculous event, the magicians immediately fell into prostration and openly declared their belief, saying:

اٰمَنَّا بِرَبِّ ہٰرُوْنَ  وَ  مُوْسٰی ﴿۷۰)

“We believe in the Lord of Hārūn and Mūsā. [1] [2]

2. Springs gushing forth by the strike of the staff

When the Banī Isrāˈīl experienced immense thirst in the desert of Tīh, they came to Mūsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم for help. In response, this renowned Prophet of Allah struck a stone with his staff, and twelve springs of water miraculously gushed forth from it. Each of the Banī Isrāˈīl’s 12 households were able to drink from their own designated spring, and
