Secret to Successful Trade

Dear Islamic brothers!  Islam is a complete religion which guides us in every aspect of life. It guides us in relation to the methods of worship as well as the affairs of life. This ensures that no walk of life is left unanswered and a Muslim is not dependent upon others for any action.

Some methods of attaining wealth are permissible whereas some are impermissible. In order to earn halal income, it is necessary to acquire the knowledge of halal and haram. Strive to act upon that which is permissible and avoid that which is forbidden.

Today’s speech, under the title “The Traits of a Successful Trader”, will provide many Madani pearls. First, we will listen to the Madani pearls regarding the life of the companion, Sayyiduna Zubayr bin ꜤAwwām رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ. Then we will listen to his statement in relation to what makes a trader successful.

Introduction to Zubayr bin Awwām رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ

A brief introduction of Sayyiduna Zubayr bin Awwām رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ is mentioned by Allāmah Abd al-Muṣtafā al-AꜤẓamī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه on page 120 of Maktaba-tul-Madina’s publication, “Karāmāt-e-Ṣaḥāba”:

He is the son of the Prophet’s صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم paternal aunt, Sayyidatuna Safiyah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا. Thus, he was the cousin of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, the nephew of Sayyidatuna Khadīja رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا, and the son-in-law of Sayyiduna Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ. He was also from amongst the ten noble companions رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُم to whom the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم promised Paradise.[1]
