مَنْ اَمْسٰی کَالًّا مِنْ عَمَلِ یَدَیْهِ اَمْسٰی مَغْفُوْرًا لَهٗ .3 Whoever enters evening after being tired working with his hands, enters evening forgiven.[1]
مَنْ طَلَبَ الدُّنْيَا حَلَالًا اِسْتِعْفَافًا عَنِ الْمَسْئَلَةِ وَسَعْيًا عَلٰی اَھْلِهٖ وَتَعَطُّفًا عَلٰی جَارِهٖ لَقِیَ اللهَ وَ وَجْهُهُ كَالْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ .4 Whoever sought this world in a halal way in order to refrain from begging, provide for his family and be kind to his neighbour, he will meet Allah in a state that his face will be shining like the full moon.[2]
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
The Professions of the Prophets عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام
Dear Islamic brothers! Earning halal sustenance is not only an act of excellence, but also a beautiful sunnah of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in addition to many other Prophets عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام. Hence, one should adopt it with the intention of acting upon the sunnah. The Prophets عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام adopted different professions in order to earn halal sustenance. Muftī Aḥmad Yār Khān NaꜤīmī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states:
Sayyiduna Ādam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام initially did work in textile manufacturing before farming. Sayyiduna Nūḥ عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was a carpenter. Sayyiduna Idrīs عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was a tailor. Sayyiduna Hūd and Ṣālih عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام traded. Sayyiduna Ibrāhīm and Lūṭ عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام were farmers, and Sayyiduna ShuꜤayb عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام would rear animals. Sayyiduna Mūsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام reared goats and Sayyiduna Dāwūd عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام would make armour. Sayyiduna Sulaymān عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام would make hand-made fans, and baskets from the leaves of date trees, despite being the king of the entire world. Our
