Book Name:Faizan e Imam Hasan Basri رَحمۃُ اللہِ عَلَیْہ

*    Recite this before sleeping: اَ للّٰھُمَّ بِاسْمِکَ اَمُوْتُ وَاَحیٰ - “O Allah! I die and live with Your name (i.e., sleep and awaken).”[1]

*    Do not sleep after Ꜥaṣr, as there is fear of losing one’s intellect like this. The beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “He who sleeps after Ꜥaṣr and loses his intellect should only blame himself.”[2]

*    Having a siesta at midday is recommended.[3] The Hanafi jurist, Muftī Amjad Alī al-Aẓamī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه states:

This is most likely for those who stay awake at night, offering prayer, engaging in dhikr, and busying themselves in reading and studying. The tiredness they feel due to staying awake can be alleviated through this siesta.[4]

*    It is disliked to sleep during the first portion of the day, and between maghrib and Ꜥishāˈ.[5]

*    It is recommended to sleep in a state of purity.

*    Sleep on your right side for some time, with your right hand under your right cheek, whilst facing qibla. After this, then turn to the left side.[6]

*    Remember the grave when sleeping. You will be alone there, and nothing will accompany you except your deeds.
