“Ḥasan al-Baṣrī did!”, the ḥāfiẓ replied.
The imam then said, “Is that so? He has revealed my secret. Now, I will reveal his secret too. The individual we all respectfully stood up for before ẓuhr was Ḥasan al-Baṣrī himself. By way of a saintly miracle, he travels from Basra to Mina every day, and offers ẓuhr salah here.”
He further mentioned, “Whoever has Imam Ḥasan al-Baṣrī as a guide does not require anybody else.”[1]
A brief introduction to Imam Ḥasan al-Baṣrī
Dear Islamic brothers!
* Imam Ḥasan al-Baṣrī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was a high-ranking saint from the tābiꜤīn.
* According to one narration, he met 130 Companions رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُمْ.
* This includes 70 Companions رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُمْ who took part in the Battle of Badr.[2]
* He was born in Madina during the reign of the second Caliph of Islam, ꜤUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ.[3]
* After his birth, he was taken to ꜤUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb
and named “Ḥasan” by him.[4]
* His kunya was Abū SaꜤīd.[5]
* His mother was the maidservant of the mother of believers, Lady
