do, in the end, we will have to depart and enter the pit of the grave. Therefore, success lies in preparing for the grave and the Hereafter.
The world is for preparing for the Hereafter
This world is not for eating
and drinking, accumulating wealth, building mansions, living luxuriously, and
passing the days in frivolity. Rather it is for performing pious deeds in
preparation for the grave and Hereafter. The third Caliph of Islam, Sayyidunā
ꜤUthmān b. ꜤAffān
رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ, stated in his final sermon:
Allah Almighty granted you this world only so that you could prepare for the Hereafter through it, and not so that you become attached to it. Without doubt, the world is temporary, and the Hereafter is eternal. Beware, lest the brief [world] diverts you from the everlasting [Hereafter]. Do not give preference to the temporary world over the everlasting Hereafter, as the world is about to be lost, and you must return to Allah Almighty. Fear Allah Almighty, as fearing Him is a shield against His punishment and a means of reaching Him.[1]
