*    It prevents calamities.

*    It increases one’s life.

*    It saves one from a bad ending.

*    It extinguishes the wrath of Allah Almighty.

*    It expands provision and brings abundance in wealth.

*    It eliminates poverty.[1]

In short, charity opens many doors of goodness and closes many doors of evil. Therefore, we should give abundant charity for the betterment of our grave and Hereafter.

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Some further deeds that aid one in the grave

5. Offering the five daily prayers on time in congregation in the masjid.

6. Discharging zakat if it is obligatory.

7. Observing fasts.

8. Good conduct with people.

These are also means of being protected from the punishment of the grave.

Sayyidunā Abū Hurayrah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ narrates that the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said:

By the One in whose power lies my soul! When the deceased is placed in the grave, he hears the footsteps of those who return.
